26 September 2010 @ 10:58 pm
Name of Contest: Ruby and the Many Faces

Type of Challenge: Team Challenge: Graphics

Due Date and Time: Wednesday, September 29, 4 AM UTC/GMT. countdown clock.

How does this work?
1) Beneath this cut is a screencap. Because it is character week, the screencap will be of this week's character, Ruby.
2) Someone on your team will post this screencap to a post in your comm.
3) Someone will comment "Claimed" to the post and then make one and only one alteration to the screencap.
4) Alteration can be of any kind- resizing, cropping, adding texture, increasing contrast, cutting and pasting in other characters, changing the color, whatever you can think.
5) That person will then reply back to the team post with the new, altered screencap and a short statement of what they changed, eg: I turned Mary into a brunette!
6) Someone else will then reply to their comment with "Claimed" and make a different alteration.
7) They will then respond to the team post with the new, altered screencap and a short statement of what they changed, eg: I resized it/made it smaller!

Rules:
1) You can make as many alterations as you like, but you can only make one at a time. You must wait for someone else to make an alteration before you make another alteration.

2) You may not undo a previous team member's work. For example: If someone makes it smaller, your alteration cannot be returning the screencap to its original size, or making it larger. You may, however, continue to make it smaller. If someone adds a texture, you may add another texture, but only if the previously still used texture is visible. If someone photoshops in Eric Kripke, your alteration may not be to remove Eric Kripke.

3) Your alteration must be obvious. Resizing the screencap by three pixels is not going to fly. This one is a bit relative, but if someone had to spend more than a couple seconds looking at your alteration to figure out what you did, then your alteration is not gonna fly.

4) As soon as the challenge closes, the team posts must become viewable to the public. Sam and I will find your final image, and post it to this comm for everyone to enjoy.
5) ETA: Some part of the original screencap must still be visible by the end. You can't just color the screencap completely white and randomly add in various pop culture icons. :)

Further Questions! To the comment thread in the post

Points!

-Each alteration will be worth one point.
-The team which makes the most alterations will earn a bonus 150 points.
-The team which has the highest rate of participation (which will be determined as a ratio of number of participants to members in a team) will earn a bonus 300 points.
-These two teams may be the same, but they may not be. If Uriel and Anna of Team Heaven made 700 alterations between the two of them and if Bobby, Rufus, and Ellen made 400 alterations between the three of them, then Team Heaven would earn the Most Alterations points, and Team Hunter the Best Participation points. However, if Meg, Ruby, Azazel, and Lilith made 900 alterations, Team Hell would get both Best Participation and Most Alteration Points.

And now, without further ado: The screencap beneath the cut!RubyCollapse )

Media Challenge 05: Icon Tag!

How does this work?
1) As all Team Challenges go, you'll be working with your team exclusively to win the challenge. This week, we're playing icon tag!
Icon Tag is a game in which you're given a prompt (say, the character Pamela Barnes), and you make an icon of Pamela with another character (for example, Anna Milton). Once you post the icon, a new player will enter an icon of Anna with someone else (like Ruby). The next icon will feature Ruby with someone else, and so on and so on.
2) You’ll be given a prompt at the end of the post. The first icon posted must include this character.
3) Someone on your team will make a post for this challenge in an entry to your team community. (^_^)
4) Someone will comment "claimed" to the post and make an icon with the character from the prompt and another character.
5) That person will then reply back to the team post with their addition.
6) Someone else will then reply to their comment with "claimed" and add post a new icon.
7) They will then respond to the team post with their addition.
8) And so on and so forth.

Rules:
1) You can make as many icons as you like, but you can only make one at a time. You must wait for someone else to make an icon before you make another.
2) The icon may only feature two people - get ready to use your cropping skills!
3) However, if you have to make an icon with Pamela and you'd like to add John, you may use two different screencaps in the icon.
4) You may only use screencaps or promotional photos for Supernatural. Any icons made with photos of the cast offscreen won't be counted.
5) Red and I must be able to see who is in the icon. Make sure the icon isn't too dark or overly textured, for our sake and your teammates'.
6) No bashing, no nudity, don't use the same icon more than once, and no stealing other people's icons or using old icons you have created and posted. Keep it clean, bbs.
7) As soon as the challenge closes, the team posts must become viewable to the public. (I'll do this)

Countdown clock can be found here.

And remember the golden Team Hell Rule: Bad icons are better than no icons! So without further ado, the first prompt is...

TEAM HELL STRATEGY AND DISCUSSION POST

Name of Contest:
Write Away

Type of Challenge: Team Challenge: Writing

Due Date and Time: Friday, April 2, 11:59 PM GMT/UTC (or Friday, April 2, 6:59 American CST/CDT). Fabulously helpful timezone converter here.

How does this work?

1) Like our earlier Team Graphics challenge, you will be creating something with your team. But this time it’s a story!
2) You’ll be given a prompt at the end of the post. The story your team comes up with must include the prompt.
3) Someone on your team will post the prompt in an entry to your comm.
4) Someone will comment "Claimed" to the post and then write the first ten to one hundred (10-100) words of a story incorporating that prompt.
5) That person will then reply back to the team post with their addition to the story as well as a word count of what they have written
6) Someone else will then reply to their comment with "Claimed" and add an additional ten to one hundred words to the story.
7) They will then respond to the team post with their addition and the word count of their addition.

Rules:

1) You can write as many additions as you like, but you can only write one at a time. You must wait for someone else to write something before you make another alteration.
2) Not every part of the story must relate to the prompt, but the story overall must feature the prompt to some degree. Whether it forms the main plot of the story or is a background feature is totally up to you, the writers.
3) Your addition must make sense. It can’t just be a stream of random words. However, it doesn’t have to be a complete sentence, thought, or paragraph. “John Winchester sighed and sat wearily down at the dinner table. He’d had another long day getting groped by famous movie stars. Still, maybe Castiel would make it better by” is completely acceptable. “Sam flannel Viagra Ghostfacers neiner neiner pumpkin eater socialism” is not.
4) As soon as the challenge closes, the team posts must become viewable to the public. Sam and I will round up all the entries and post the complete stories to this comm.
5) The story must be gen and pg-13 (or lower). We know the rules of the comm state that any pairing is allowable, but for team challenges, we want to make sure the entire team is comfortable participating. And that means no pairings and no hardcore squicks. The definition of a pg-13 can be found here. (Though Sam and I will be a little more lenient on the cussing.) Acknowledgment of canon pairings (eg Sam/Jess, Dean/Cassie, John/Mary), however, is acceptable so long as the pairing does not become a major point of the fic.
6) You do not actually have to finish the story. While a complete story would be neat, we don’t expect you to come up with a complete work of fanfiction in four days.

Your Prompt!

Dean is the one with demon blood; Sam is not.

Okay, Team Hell, let's get this party on the road!!!
